Cityville is a game of strategy, a lot more than people realize. The game seems so easy at first that many people rush into placing their buildings in the wrong places. is all about your layout. Speaking of layout, did you notice you started with your red barn next to the street? What the heck is the point in that? It works just as well away from the road, unlike your major businesses (these definitely belong on the street).
So the first thing you should do is use your move tool and take the red barn off the street. You also start off with various trees growing in empty spaces. These do nothing, but don't chop them down until the task comes up to "chop down three trees." At this point you might be considering starting over, especailly if you are struggling with your city.
Decorations Cheat
When you are about to collect money from a business, first use the move tool and move it into an empty space. Use the move tool again and place all your decorations around it. Then collect the payout for a massive bonus. Have excess energy to waste? Grow strawberries. They provide a great experience boost.Get lots of neighbors. If your friends aren't interested in playing, use Cityville forums.City halls work great, and only require three friends. You can get a lot of experience and energy from them, and you can collect every 24 hours. To get franchises in neighbors cities: Go to their city and find an empty spot to place a business. Choose one and wait for your friend to accept, and choose "new headquarters available".
