FrontierVille is a game played on Facebook that is made by Zynga. Zynga is well-known for creating other games including FarmVille, Cafe World and Mafia Wars among others. FrontierVille involves setting up a homestead with cabins, a spouse, children, a school, inn, shops and more over time. You must also grow crops, tend animals and complete missions in order to succeed at the game. Some of those missions involve saltpeter, a rare ingredient needed to craft fireworks for your homestead.
Instructions:
1) Tend to your animals to see if any of them drop a part of the Manure Collection. Tending means simply clicking on the yellow arrow above each animal. If there is no yellow arrow, they are not ready to be tended yet. The Manure Collection includes poultry pudding (from tending chickens and geese), piggy poop (pigs), brush brownie (sheep and goats), prairie pile (mules or horses) and meadow muffin (cows and oxen). If an animal drops a part of the collection, a picture of it will appear on the screen. It is automatically added to your collection inventory.
2)Tend animals on your neighbors' frontiers to see if any of the animals will drop an item from the Manure Collection.
3) Add any missing Manure Collection items to your wishlist by clicking on your backpack on the bottom of the screen, then clicking on "Collections." This will bring up all collections, and tell you how many of each item you have. For those you don't have, click on the "plus" sign and it will be added to your wishlist. You can only have five items on your wishlist at once. Post this wishlist to your Facebook feed so that FrontierVille neighbors can send you the desired collection items from their own inventory.
4) Go through your Facebook wall and see if any of your friends have recently completed and turned in a collection with a saltpeter prize. If they have, they can make a post that appears on your wall to share a saltpeter prize. If you see one of these posts, click on the prize to claim your free saltpeter. These are rare, but they do turn up on occasion and are an easy way to add more saltpeter to your collection.
5) Turn in all five items from the Manure Collection to get free saltpeter. You can turn in a collection by clicking on your backpack, clicking on "Collections" and clicking on "Trade In" for the Manure Collection.
6) Open all mystery gifts sent to you by your FrontierVille neighbors. They will be in your Game Requests list. When you open mystery gifts, one of the possible prizes is a postcard from the Postcard Collection. Collect these postcards and turn them in for a saltpeter prize. Mystery gifts are the only way to get postcards.
Tips & Warnings
After you have collected five saltpeters, you can enter your cabin and make fireworks with them. Fireworks also need fire, which can be crafted in the wagon. Fire requires cloth and wood to make. Once enough fire has been made, you can return to the cabin and use the fire and saltpeter together to craft fireworks.
Fireworks are a necessity to complete the 4th of July Mission, if you have not done so already.
If someone sends you a Manure Collection item from your wishlist, as a courtesy you should return the favor and send them something from their wishlist as well.
The hardest part of the Manure Collection to get is the Prairie Pile, because only horses and mules who are ready to be tended will give you this item. Frontier Jack, the in-game non-player who everyone has as a neighbor, will generally have horses and mules for you to tend.
Simply tending the animals that give the needed parts of the collection does not guarantee you will get that item. Some animals will only give coins or energy, while others give collection items. It is a completely random system; there is no telling when an animal will give up collection items. It may take several tries before an animal gives up a collection item as a prize for tending.
