Farmville is one of the most addictive Facebook games, according to a "Time" article on May 27, 2010. The thrill of constantly acquiring new items or leveling up can be very addicting. If you find yourself wondering why you stayed up just to collect one more plot or realize that you're planning your day around when your crops will be ready to harvest, you may have a problem with the game. Many people regret ever starting the game when they realize all of the time they've invested in it.
Instructions:
1) Admit that you have a problem with Farmville. You cannot treat the problem if you do not admit that it exists. Look back on how much time you spent on Farmville last week. If you regret spending all of that time on the game or believe you could have spent the time doing something more productive, acknowledge that.
2) Block all Farmville messages on your Facebook account in the account settings section. Once you've done this, you will not receive any messages from your friends or administrators about the Farmville game. Once you stop receiving messages about Farmville, you will likely stop thinking about the game.
3) Remove all trees and animals from your farm that require constant care. Plant only crops that have long growing seasons, such as potatoes. This will keep you from constantly going back to log into the game and prevent you from planting new crops as your plots will all be occupied.
4) Delete your Farmville neighbors so that you are not tempted to play the game with your friends. Tell them that you are cutting back on Farmville so they can help you avoid the game. Many people are willing to help when they find out that you want to stop playing the game. You may even give your friends an excuse to quit as well.
5) Schedule other activities at a time when you would typically play Farmville. Good examples are exercise, yoga or reading a book. Exercise, in particular, can provide a high similar to that of Farmville and can also be just as enjoyable. Exercising also has the advantage of getting you into shape.
6) Spend time with non-Farmville friends. Many people who quit playing Farmville miss the social interaction of the game. Finding and socializing with friends who do other activities will give you new interests on which to spend your time.
Tips & Warnings
If none of the above ideas cure your Farmville addiction, consider going cold turkey by uninstalling the game completely. This may be difficult at first, but after a few weeks, you will completely forget about Farmville.
